Think you have what it takes to be the next great sculptor? Is 3-D printing your ultimate inspiration? Do you have a passion for wood-work? Show us your skills in the 3D art competition!
Registration Requirements:
​1.
 No more than our (4) students from each school can register for this competition.
2.This competition is NOT a team effort. Each competitor must turn in a separate piece of work.


Competition Criteria: 
1. All submissions must be three-dimensional. 
a. NOTE: 3D artwork should be sturdy. Judges are looking for artwork that is well put together. Please note that your artwork may be moved around on several occasions, therefore it should be robust enough to handle these multiple moves. 
2. Each competitor must provide a written artist statement for their 3D artwork explaining what the artwork is about and what inspired the competitor to create it. The written Artist Statement must not exceed a total of 500 words, and three (3) hard copies must be submitted at registration. 
3. Artwork must relate to the overall MIST Theme. 
4. Artwork should avoid realistic, representational rendering of lifelike human or animal form. Therefore, fully defined facial, skeletal, or muscular features are not permitted. If in doubt, contact your Regional Headquarters. 
5. No more than $100 can be spent on supplies.


How to Submit: 
1. Competitors must submit their 3D Art submissions on site at registration. 
2. Bring three (3) hard copies of a written Artist Statement at registration: 
a. One (1) copy of the written Artist Statement must be attached to the back of the 3D Art submission.
b.Two (2) copies of the written Artist Statement must be submitted during on-site registration upon arrival. 
3. The 3D artwork AND written Artist Statement should be clearly labeled with the following: 
  • MIST ID (do NOT include your name) 
  • Name of Competition

  1. Competition Logistics:
    1. This competition will be conducted in-person*.
    2. All submissions will be judged. Depending on the number of entries, only the top entries (based on artwork and artist statement) will be interviewed. The number of interviews conducted will be up to the discretion of the Regional Headquarters.
    3. The interview will be conducted in person*. The interview will consist of the judge asking specific questions in order for the competitor to describe the purpose and inspiration of their artwork. Interview questions can be found in Section D of the 3D Art Detailed Ballot.
    4. The artwork, artist statement, and interview will be judged according to the 3D Art Detailed Ballot.

​*NOTE: 3D Art competitors are eligible to opt for an online interview. In the case of scheduling an online interview, 3D Art submissions (artwork and artist statement) must still be physically delivered to the site of the tournament, in time for registration. Contact your Regional Headquarters to schedule an online interview.
