Showcase your editing, directing, and acting skills! Make a documentary, drama, comedy, thriller or animation to convey a particular message to the audience while relating your film to the MIST theme.
Procedures:
Registration Requirements:
- A minimum of one (1) and a maximum of six (6) people can register for this competition per school. More than six (6) individuals from one school may work on the short film, but no more than six (6) can register. Procedures: 1. Films entered may be of any genre, fiction, documentary, animation, art or experimental.
- All videos must be in a 4:3 or 16:9 Aspect Ratio. Films shot in widescreen must be letterboxed to fit in the 4:3 Aspect Ratio.
- Films shall be a minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of seven (7) minutes in duration (excluding opening and closing credits).
- Films must NOT contain inappropriate audio or video content.
- Entries MUST be original works that have not been previously distributed/ awarded/recognized or publicly exhibited as of the submission date. Entrant must be the creator of the submitted work, holding the full copyright ownership therein.
- Films MUST relate to this year’s theme.
- The team must submit the follow components by their MIST regional deadline:
- An unlisted YouTube/Vimeo link to their submission
- A completed region’s entry form. Competitors who do not turn in this form with their submission will lose points towards their final score.
- 500-word artist statement or four (4) minute video answering:
- How did the team make the film? What inspired you/your team to make this film?
- How did you aim to convey this year's theme in your work?
- What do you hope to teach people about the theme with this work?
- What element of the work is the most important towards conveying your understanding of the theme?
- How did the team make the film? What inspired you/your team to make this film?
- An unlisted YouTube/Vimeo link to their submission
- An Artist Statement must be submitted to explain the piece.
- The Author’s Statement may be a Video Statement (max duration: four (4) mins) or Written Statement (max word limit: 500 words) to explain the piece.
ii. A Written Statement must be submitted as a PDF along with the piece.
Checklist:
- An unlisted YouTube link of your short film sent 2 weeks prior to the date of the regional tournament to your Regional Competition Headquarters.
- Short Film Entry Form
- A 500 word maximum written statement about the short film and that answers questions under Section D: Application of Theme
- A complete list of cast, crew members and equipment used
- The submission should be clearly labeled with:
