2023 Knowledge Test Books

Read one of three books and take a test on it. The test comprises of a set of multiple choice and short answer questions to judge reading, comprehension, and analytical abilities.
Registration Requirements:
1. No more than four (4) students from each school may register for each test. Each student may only register for ONE
(1) test.
a. EXAMPLE: Four (4) students may register for Test 1, and four (4) other students may register for Test 2, etc.

Procedures:
- Tests must be taken individually.
- Tests will be open-book. No additional notes or mobile devices will be allowed.
- All questions for each test will be based on the material covered in the assigned book/text.
- There is no ballot for this competition. Scores will be based solely on test performance.
- This competition will be conducted online.
- This competition will require live cameras and microphones that are on throughout the entirety of the exam. Further details will be released closer to the tournament date.
- Each student will be given an online test containing possible combinations of multiple choice and short answer questions at the time of the competition. Questions will have an analytical/thinking focus.
The 2023 Knowledge Test books are:
- Test 1: The Glass Universe, by Dava Sobel
- Test 2: Centering Black Narrative: Black Muslim Nobles Among the Early Pious Muslims, by Ahmad Mubarak and Dawud Walid
The initial book for this test has been switched to the one above due to unsuitable themes and contents. - Test 3: When Baghdad Ruled the Muslim World, by Hugh Kennedy
Poetry passages will not be tested on.
